Global ad spend down, internet on the up

It is unlikely to come as a surprise to anyone but the latest figures from ZenithOptimedia have confirmed that global ad spend is set to fall throughout 2009.

Global ad spend is set to drop by 6.9% to £304bn this year, with the UK expected to experience a fall of 8.7% against last year. Findings do note however that the rate of decline should slow towards the end of 2009.

Worldwide, the internet is singled out as the only medium expected to experience a rise in advertising expenditure this year, predicted to grow by 8.6%.
